Meritus Hotels & Resorts Bags Three Awards at the 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards

Meritus Hotels & Resorts, lauded Singapore's most popular heritage brand, marked a grand slam win in the following categories at the recently concluded 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA):

  • GLOBAL WINNER, Luxury Hotel Brand - Meritus Hotels & Resorts
  • COUNTRY WINNER, Luxury Hotel - Mandarin Orchard Singapore
  • COUNTRY WINNER, Luxury Business Hotel - Marina Mandarin Singapore

The annual red carpet Gala event was held on 13 October 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Recognised as amongst the world's most prestigious and exclusive awards for the hospitality industry, the World Luxury Hotel Awards is a global organisation that provides recognition to luxury hotels for their world class facilities and service excellence provided to guests. The organisation aims to encourage and raise service standards within the luxury hotel industry.

The criteria to be successfully nominated and included in the official World Luxury Hotel Awards voting process is overall service excellence. The award judging process is not dependent on a board of directors, but by the industry itself through public voting by tour operators, travel consultants, industry experts and guests that have experienced these hotels.

From amongst over 1500 nominations received this year, the event saw hotels and resorts from 61 countries awarded in 29 categories. Winners are recognised on a country, continent, and global basis; and properties receiving the most votes are conferred the global awards being the overall luxury winner of a specific category.

Marinique de Wet, Director of the World Luxury Hotel Awards, said: "Growing numbers of luxury travelers around the world seeking value, impeccable service, and the highest quality are now making a point of checking to see who has won a World Luxury Hotel Award before making their own holiday choice."

On winning the awards, Chua Tian Chu, Meritus Hotels & Resorts' Deputy Chief Executive Officer, commented: "As we grow the Meritus brand we are more committed than ever to operate hotels that reflect the best of who we are - world-class facilities delivered with our signature Asian hospitality."

"Winning three World Luxury Hotel Awards is a great honour and a proud testament to the passion and dedication of our people. We are grateful to WLHA, our guests, and our peers in the industry for this recognition."
