Obama’s Chrysler For Sale for $1 Million

Obama’s Chrysler For Sale for $1 Million

Like buying a car once leased by 44th U.S. President Barack Obama?

The 2005 Chrysler 300C was leased and driven by President Obama while he was an Illinois state senator from 2004 through the summer of 2007. The eBay listing points out that Obama traded in the Hemi-powered 300C for a more politically correct Ford Escape hybrid before he became president.

The gray 2005 Chrysler 300C is currently up on eBay with a starting bid of $1 million. According to the seller, who has the car's original Illinois title, Obama put 19,000 miles on the car when he was Illinois state senator during 2004. It's only done another 1,800 miles since then.

Considering that Pope John Paul II's very used 1975 Ford Escort sold for $690,000 in 2005 to a wealthy Texas collector, and the current Pope's (Benedict XVI) 1999 Volkswagen Golf sold on eBay, also in 2005, for $244,590.83, it's highly likely that Obama's former ride will fetch a six-figure sum.

Update:The auction closed late Wednesday with no bids meeting that minimum asking price.
